| Homelessness
To
enable the Homelessness Department to assess your
needs, you will first speak to an Assessment Officer
who will determine which Department you need to
speak to. This is to avoid unnecessary delays
and help speed up the process for you.
Documents
and Information
If
you are advised to make a Homelessness Application
there are important, necessary documents that
are require, without them the Department will be unable to process
your application and it is likely that we will
be unable to assist.
Please
ensure you have your documents available,
prior to your interview.
Documents
Required
- Full/birth
certificates/or/passport
If you do not have your
birth certificate, then please contact our Reception
Desk who will give you details of how to obtain
one urgently, by post or in person.
- Child
Benefit Payment Books
If
you have children, then a Benefit Book is required
to assist when determining that
you have dependent children who reside with you.
If
you are privately renting, your Tenancy Agreement
is needed to check your
tenancy rights.
Details
of Income, Benefit, Savings, Profit from the sale
of property.
- Notices
to Quit/Possession Orders/Bailiff's Warrant
If
your landlord is seeking possession we will need
these documents to determine your homelessness
and whether or not your landlord has, in fact,
served a Legal Notice.
- Confirmation
from Friends/Family
If
you have been living with friends or family,
confirmation will needed from them regarding how
long you have resided there and reasons why you
have to leave. In addition, we will need a contact
telephone number.
The
addresses that
you have resided at during the last 5 years, dates
and type of occupation (i.e. tenant/owner).
Please
ensure that you have this information available.
Evidence
of any medical problem, i.e.
-
Incapacity Benefit Books.
- GP's prescription/certificate.
- Letter from GP (your GP
may charge).
- Medication.
One
or all of the above may be required to enable a
decision to be reached.
